Assess your carbon footprint

Travel has a huge impact on the environment, especially if you travel by plane or by car. Carbon created by burning fossil fuels that power airplanes, cars, and even trains is one of the largest impacts that we as individuals have to the environment. There are many ways to offset this impact, including choosing a mode of travel that burns less fossil fuel or choosing to reduce your travel altogether.


It isn't only travel that impacts the environment. Eating a lot of red meat or processed foods can also have a negative impact on the environment. Some food products and energy intensive manufacturing practices produce more carbon than others. Through small changes in your diet and your grocery shopping you can reduce your carbon impact.


If you aren't able or willing to reduce your travel or make changes to your diet, you can donate to or purchase carbon credits that go to funding social programs that capture or reduce carbon.
